Gardaí have arrested two men in connection with an armed robbery at a supermarket in Dublin last night.

Gardaí have arrested two men in connection with an armed robbery at a supermarket in Dublin last night.

It is believed that up to three men with firearms and knives entered the shop in Ongar village, Dublin 15, at 8.30pm last night .

They threatened staff and demanded cash, before leaving empty handed in a silver coloured car.

Gardaí searched nearby and arrested two men, aged 37 and 40 years, close to the scene.

They are being held at Blanchardstown Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939-'98 as amended.

Gardaí also recovered a car, a firearm and a knife before preserving the scene for a technical examination.
