Gardaí in Co Roscommon have arrested two men in connection with a post office robbery in Strokestown this morning.

Gardaí in Co Roscommon have arrested two men in connection with a post office robbery in Strokestown this morning.

Two masked men, one believed to be armed, entered the premises at around 9.30am and threatened staff.

They made off with an undisclosed sum of cash in a silver Volvo which later crashed on the road between Ballymahon and Lanesborough.

Two men, both in their twenties, were detained and are being questioned at Roscommon Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
