A man has been arrested by Gardaí investigating a shooting in Newcastle West, Co Limerick yesterday in which two people were injured.

A man has been arrested by Gardaí investigating a shooting in Newcastle West, Co Limerick yesterday in which two people were injured.

It happened in the Castleview Estate at about 3.30pm yesterday afternoon when a lone gunman fired at the man and woman before fleeing the scene.

A 25-year-old man was arrested in the early hours of this morning.

He is being questioned at Newcastle West Garda Station, where he can be held for up to three days.
