Gardaí investigating a fatal road accident in Co. Tipperary on Tuesday have arrested a man.

A 28-year-old man died and the 20-year-old driver was injured after the car hit a ditch at Rathronan in Clonmel.

The driver was taken to South Tipperary Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

A 20-year-old man was arrested this morning and is being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at Clonmel Garda Station.

Investigating Gardaí are continuing to appeal for anyone with information to contact Clonmel Garda Station on 052 - 6177640, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
