Gardaí arrest man in connection with Dublin carjacking

Gardaí in Dublin have arrested a man in connection with a carjacking in Terenure on Friday.

A woman and her two children were stopped at traffic at the junction of Zion Road and the Orwell Road just before 4 pm when a man got into the back of the car and demanded money.

Claiming to have a weapon, he instructed the women to drive to her house, get bank cards and take money out of an ATM in Rathgar.

He then forced her to go to Portobello where he fled the scene.

A 41-year-old man was detained this morning under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

He is being questioned at Terenure Garda Station.
