Gardaí investigating a shooting incident in Drogheda have arrested a 19-year-old man.

Gardaí investigating a shooting incident in Drogheda have arrested a 19-year-old man.

A 35-year-old man received gunshot wounds to his leg in the Moneymore estate at around 6pm yesterday.

He was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda for treatment for his injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.

The 19-year-old man is being detained at Drogheda Garda station and Gardaí are carrying out a technical examination of the scene.

They have appealled for witnesses to the shooting incident.
