A man in his 40s remains in garda custody this morning in connection with the disappearance of a dog breeder in Cavan almost two years ago.

Forty two year old Gerry Daly, who is originally from Tallaght in Dublin, was last seen at his home on the outskirts of Bailieborough on June 26, 2011.

His disappearance has been treated as a missing persons inquiry - with descriptions and photographs of Mr Daly being distributed to missing persons websites and through social media.

Yesterday morning, detectives investigating his disappearance arrested a man for questioning.

He is being held at Carrickmacross Garda Station in County Monaghan.
