Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to an armed robbery at the Permanent TSB bank on Baggot Street Upper, Dublin 4 today.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to an armed robbery at the Permanent TSB bank on Baggot Street Upper, Dublin 4 today.

At approximately 12.42pm, two men entered the bank, one was armed with what is described as a handgun and the other a crowbar.

They threatened staff and left with a sum of money. No one was injured.

After fleeing the bank, they made their way through a crowd of pedestrians who were standing at the junction of Baggot Street Upper and Haddington Road.

The raiders continued onto Haddington Road, before crossing over to the junction of Haddington Road/Percy Place where it is believed they may have escaped in an unidentified vehicle.

The first raider is described as follows:

* 5ft 11inches in height

* Heavy build

* Wearing a hi-visibility jacket – the bottom section of the jacket is dark in colour

* Dark bottoms

* Black woolly hat

* White painters mask

* Carrying a crow bar

The second raider is described as:

* 5ft 8 or 9 inches in height

* Wearing a black builders jacket with grey florescent stripes

* Black woolly hat

* Black scarf over his face

Gardaí at Irishtown Garda Station are appealing to members of the public who were in the Baggot Street Upper area at the time of the robbery just before lunch today, or to anyone who may have information about this robbery to contact the Gardaí at the Incident Room in Irishtown Garda Station at 01-6669632, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
