Update 4.45pm: Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a serious crash that has left two young men in hospital.

The crash happened in Kilkenny last night.

The crash involving a car and van happened in Julianstown, Ballyfoyle at around 10.30pm last night.

Two men who were driving have both been taken to hospital, both vehicles were only occupied by one driver.

One man in his 30s remains in a critical condition this evening, the extent of the injuries of the other man are not known but they are not believed to be life threatening.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Gardaí.

Earlier: Two people seriously injured in Kilkenny crash

Two people have been seriously injured in a crash in Kilkenny last night.

The incident involving a car and van happened in Julianstown, Ballyfoyle on the N78 at around 10.30pm.

Both drivers have been taken to Kilkenny Hospital with serious injuries.

One driver in his 30s is in a critical condition.

The road has since reopened after a technical examination and gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to contact them on 056 7775000.
