Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a fatal crash in Co Cork yesterday which claimed the life of a 28-year-old man.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a fatal crash in Co Cork yesterday which claimed the life of a 28-year-old man.

The two-car collision happened on the M8 Cork Dublin motorway northbound between Mitchelstown and Fermoy just after 2.30pm.

A 28-year-old man was fatally injured, while a female passenger was taken to Cork University Hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the second car, a 71-year-old woman, was airlifted to Cork University Hospital with serious injuries.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact Fermoy garda station.
