A man has been arrested after an attack on a garda this morning.

A man has been arrested after an attack on a garda this morning.

Gardaí responded to a report that a car was on fire at New Campbell’s Bridge in Cabra at around 5.30am.

On arrival, one male Garda was attacked by a man in his 30s, who assaulted him with what is believed to be a bottle.

The Garda was taken to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown where he received a number of stitches to his leg.

He has since been discharged from hospital.

A man in his 30s has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently detained at Finglas Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Investigations are continuing.
