Galway cheese named Supreme Champion at Bloom

The maker of a farmhouse cheese from Galway has been named the Supreme Champion of the only cheese awards to focus on Irish makers.

At the Bloom festival in Dublin, Marion Roeleveld has been awarded the top prize for her "Killeen Mature Goat" cheese.

The Irish Cheese Awards 2014 sees cheese makers from all over Ireland judged in 17 classes by a panel of experts.

This year, a special category called Cheese for Children was judged by a four-strong team of boys and girls, aged between seven and 16.

They gave their gold medal to Coolea Farmhouse Cheese for its "Coolea Young Matured" cheese.
