GAA calls for 'sense' in Irish Rail dispute
The GAA is calling for unions at Irish Rail to return to talks and "see sense" over work stoppages scheduled for both All Ireland final days.
National Bus and Rail Union and SIPTU workers at the company have announced four days of stoppage in the coming weeks, beginning with a 48-hours stoppage on August 24 - the day of the football semi-final.
Irish Rail says the pay cuts at the centre of the dispute must go ahead and it can't guarantee any of its services will run on the dates.
Alan Milton, head of media relations at the GAA has called on the unions to avoid disruption on All Ireland Final days.
"There's not a whole lot we can do - it's outside our remit," he said.
"But I would hope that people would see sense - perhaps after the first semi-final some of the personalities involved would be able to reconvene and examine whether or not a solution is available before the finals come into focus.
"That really is a worrying situation given the numbers that would travel for finals in Dublin in September."
