Full water services in Dublin are expected to be fully restored by midnight tonight, according to Dublin City Council.

Full water services in Dublin are expected to be fully restored by midnight tonight, according to Dublin City Council.

Essential works on a water main on the North Circular Road near Hanlon’s Corner have been completed.

Thousands of homes and businesses in north Dublin were affect by disruption to their water supple today as a result of the works.

"As a result of the disruption to the water supply people in the affected areas may experience discoloured water," said a statement from Dublin City Council.

"We advise letting the tap run for a period in order to allow the water to clear.

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank all consumers in the affected areas for their cooperation, patience and understanding during the period of the works."
