Fugitive solicitor Michael Lynn may be back in weeks after extradition gets go-ahead

Former solicitor Michael Lynn could be back in Ireland within weeks, after the courts in Brazil cleared the way for his extradition.

Mr Lynn had been fighting moves to extradite him from Brazil for the last two years.

He faces more than 30 charges in relation to the collapse of his property business, which left behind €80m in unpaid debt.

He fled the country in 2007 and had been living in southern Brazil for several years.

The extradition of the Mayo-born solicitor follows a ruling by Brazil's Supreme Court last night.

Mr Lynn will be handed over to the Brazilian Justice Ministry who will implement Ireland's extradition request.
