Why can't a man be more like a woman? That's the question being posed by doctors attending a conference on suicide and self-harm in Ireland today.
The conference explores the issues of male suicide, suicide in pregnancy and suicide in vulnerable groups.
The conference is hosted by the Irish Association of Suicidology.
Chairperson Dr Justin Brophy said: "We know that four times as many men die by suicide than women. This is an attempt to look at what is it about men's behaviour that leads them to be more vulnerable, or what is it about women's behaviour that seems to reduce their liability to die by suicide.
"It's an intriguing look at what men are doing that makes them more susceptible."
