Four arrested following Limerick hijacking

Four people have been arrested after a hijacking in Limerick in the early hours of yesterday morning.

At about 1.40am, a man in his 30s was forced off the M20 at Dooradoyle in Limerick. He was then threatened, and robbed at knife-point.

The victim was brought to Limerick Regional Hospital where he was treated for injuries he sustained during the attack, but he has since been released.

A sum of money was taken off him during the incident.

During follow-up searches four people - two men and two women - were arrested. One of the women has since been released and gardaí are preparing a file for the DPP.

The two men, aged 25 and 31, are currently being questioned at Roxboro Road garda station, while the remaining woman is being held at Henry Street station.

All three are being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act. Two cars seized during the operation are being technically examined.
