Five Irish third level colleges are featuring in the World University Rankings.

Trinity College is top of the Irish, at 129 (score 50.3 out of 100), out of the 400 universities featured.

Institutions were judged across 13 performance indicators including factors covering teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.

University College Dublin is placed at 161 (score of 46.7).

UCC makes it into the top 300, with NUI Galway and NUI Maynooth also featuring on the list.

Top of the list is the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), with a score of 94.9.
