Two men have been rescued from a sinking boat in County Galway.

One of the two men on board was able to raise the alarm after their boat started taking on water off Salthill in Galway Bay at about 2pm this afternoon.

Two other fishing boats in the area came to the men’s immediate assistance, bringing them on board to safety.

Galway RNLI lifeboat later boarded the sinking boat with a pump, and managed to keep the vessel afloat, before towing it back to Galway Docks.
