The Exchequer has run a surplus of alomost €200m for the first three months of the year.

The latest Exchequer returns show the state took in nearly €200m more than it spent.

Almost every tax category is ahead of schedule. This is the first time since the financial crisis that the state has not run a deficit over a three-month period.
