Emergency services are battling a major fire in a derelict building in Mallow, Co Cork.

Emergency services are battling a major fire in a derelict building in Mallow, Co Cork.

The blaze broke out at the site of the old Central Hotel in the early hours of this morning.

Several units of the county fire brigade are at the scene and it is believed the fire has already caused extensive damage.

Traffic restrictions are in place in Mallow as a result.

It is believed water restrictions over the last couple of weeks are making it difficult to put the fire out.
