Micheál Martin is still the most popular leader in the country, despite a big drop in support for Fianna Fáil.

The latest Ipsos/MRBI poll in today's Irish Times shows Fianna Fáil down seven points to 26% support.

The result puts the party neck-and-neck with Fine Gael who have risen by two points.

Sinn Féin are on 19%, Labour are unchanged on 5% and Independents and others have risen slightly to 24%.

Poll results:

  • Fine Gael: 26% (up two points);
  • Fianna Fáil: 26% (down seven points);
  • Labour: 5% (no change); t
  • Sinn Féin: 19% (up three);
  • Independents/ Others: 24% (up two).

Taoiseach Enda Kenny's rating is at 29%, down four points, while Micheál Martin's is at 39% - though that is also a drop of four points.

Gerry Adams and Brendan Howlin also saw their ratings fall, to 28% and 21% respectively.

The survey (margin of error is plus or minus 2.8%) was conducted on Monday and Tuesday of this week among a representative sample of 1,200 voters aged 18 and over.
