Sitting Fine Gael MEP Jim Higgins has been eliminated after the fourth count in the Midlands Northwest European election constituency.
So far, only Luke ‘Ming’ Flanagan has been elected in Castlebar. Mr Higgins’ transfers will now be redistributed.

Jim Higgins (FG) eliminated
Fine Gael are predicting that the bulk of Mr Higgins transfers will go to his colleague Mairead McGuinness, who is expected to retain her seat.
However, Independent Marian Harkin will also be hoping for a sizeable chunk of transfers, after gaining almost 12,000 votes from Ronan Mullen.
Sinn Féin's Matt Carthy is expected to be the next to take a seat.
After a local election recount in Castlebar area, the following were deemed elected: Kilcoyne, Chambers, Ruane, McDonnell, Kenny, Durcan, Burke and Gavin.
