A motion of censure is to be tabled in the Dáil today against the independent TD Mick Wallace.
The Fianna Fáil whip Sean O'Fearghail said that his party will table the motion if the technical group fails to do so.
Yesterday, Deputy Wallace stepped down as a member of the technical group, after a number of members asked him to leave.
It follows revelations that his company knowingly made false declarations to the Revenue Commissioners.
Fianna Fáil's Sean O'Fearghail said that Deputy Wallace will get his chance to make a statement on the matter when a motion of censure is tabled today.
"There's a meeting of whips at 1.30 and I expect that there will be a proposal emanating from that meeting to put down a motion of censure," he said.
"It remains to be seen whether that will come from the technical group, or whether it will be the Government Chief Whip who that'll make that proposal.
"If either of those groups fail to do so, Fianna Fáil will bring the censure motion forward."
