Deputy Colm Keaveney and Councillor Anne Rabbitte have been selected by Fianna Fáil to contest the next election in Galway East.

More than 500 party members attended the selection convention this evening in the Raheen Woods Hotel in Athenry.

Deputy Keaveney was elected as a Labour party TD in 2011 before losing the party whip in 2012 and subsequently joining Fianna Fáil.
