Fears are growing that strike action could hit Dublin, Cork and Shannon airports just before St Patrick's weekend.
Fresh proposals were put together last week to try and resolve a row over pensions at the Dublin Airport Authority and Aer Lingus. However, it is reported today that strike notice could still be served next week.
Siptu members have already backed the plan.
Eamon McKeon of the Irish Tourism Industry Confederation says strikes are an outdated solution:
"Eventually this will get solved, but strike action is stuff from the dinosaur past," he said.
"It doesn’t help any issues, so I would ask the unions to really make a statement that there won't be any strike until, at least, talks have taken place."
