Farming group calls for safety awareness after 13 death this year

Farmers are being urged to adopt measures to help prevent death and injury.

To date this year, 13 people have died on farms, and the Irish Cattle and Sheep Farmers Association is urging the adoption of a Safe System of Work Plan.

The ICSA's John Flynn said there are some simple measures which can be implemented:

"[Farming groups] are trying to get the message across to farmers to be more careful, and to act and plan their work - to check equipment, and look after their training and their safety."
