A family of three have been rescued from their boat on Lough Derg this evening.

A family of three have been rescued from their boat on Lough Derg this evening.

The skipper raised the alarm just after 7pm when the 36 foot cruiser suffered engine failure just off Hare Island.

Valentia Coastguard, assisted by Lough Derg RNLI launched a rescue operation and brought all three family members to safety.

The vessel has been towed to Dromineer harbour north of Nenagh.
