The family of Patrick Halpin have thanked people for their support in the search for the 18-year-old.

While a formal identification has yet to take place, police in London said they're satisfied that a body found on a roof near Leicester Square on Thursday is that of the DCU student.

Mr Halpin, from Loughrea in Co Galway, was on a trip to London with the college drama society when he became separated from the group.

He last seen at the Zoo bar and club off Leicester Square on Tuesday night.

Police said they are not treating his death as suspicious.

A spokesperson said a post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.
