A County Louth family is appealing for help after their son died in a suspected hit-and-run at the weekend.

A County Louth family is appealing for help after their son died in a suspected hit-and-run at the weekend.

35-year-old Keith Byrne was discovered on the side of the road in Louth village yesterday morning, a short distance from his home in Carnalogue.

Paramedics were called to the scene to bring him to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

He had suffered injuries consistent with having been struck by a vehicle.

Gardaí have appealed for anyone who travelled the road through Louth village between 4.15am and 4.45am yesterday morning to contact them.
