A Co Wicklow man who was extradited from England yesterday has appeared at the Special Criminal Court today and was remanded in custody on explosives and ammunition charges.
Colin John Conlon (aged 38) with an address at Burgage Industrial Estate, Blessington, Co Wicklow was arrested on a European Arrest Warrant and extradited from London yesterday.
He had failed to turn up for his trial in July last year when he faced charges of the unlawful possession of an improvised explosive device at the M 1 motorway at Cloghran, Co Dublin on November 25, 2005 and the unlawful possession of 104 rounds of assorted ammunition on the same date.
Detective Sergeant Donal Prenty, Special Detective Unit, gave evidence of arresting Conlon at 7pm last night at Dublin airport on foot of warrants issued by the court.
The court remanded Conlon in custody until a date next month when the case will be mentioned again.
