Executive Board of Irish Farmers' Association to step down
The Executive Board of the Irish Farmers' Association has agreed to step down pending full elections in the spring.
They have also agreed changes to the terms of office - reverting from a four-year term to two-year terms.
If approved at a council meeting tomorrow there will be elections for the role of president, deputy president, the four regional chairmen and the national treasurer/returning officer, likely to held April.
The IFA has been dogged by controversy over the pay of former general secretary Pat Smith since late last year.
Both Smith and former president Eddie Downey have since stepped down from their posts.
