The EU is taking Ireland to court over its failure to implement rules on renewable energy.

EU to fine Ireland for renewable energy failure

The EU is taking Ireland to court over its failure to implement rules on renewable energy.

It wants to fine Ireland over €25,000 per day for its failure to impose rules which should have been in place by the end of 2010.

That means Ireland could be face penalties of over €3m for not making sure that 10% of vehicles run on renewable energy.
