European Union funding for those who lost their jobs at the Waterford Crystal plant could soon be available.

An application has been made on behalf of the workers under the EU Globalisation Fund.

It is hoped the application will come before the European Parliament in either March or April.

Up to €3.5m could be given to help re-train and upskill the workers who were made redundant.

Former Dell workers in Limerick are also in receipt of similar funding which will be drawn down by the Government today.
