ESB reduce waterflow from Parteen Weir; River 50cm lower than peak levels

The flow of water from Parteen Weir is dropping to 405 cubic metres per second today.

It had been cut to 440 cumecs yesterday.

The ESB says the reductions are happening as the levels in Lough Derg continue to drop.

The situation will be reviewed again tomorrow.

Clare County Council says the discharge rate is now at its lowest level in two weeks.

Water levels on the Lower River Shannon at Springfield, Clonlara, are 50cm lower than the peak levels recorded during the Christmas period.
