The ESB has said crews are working to restore power to approximately 14,000 homes and businesses following Storm Frank.

The ESB has said crews are working to restore power to approximately 14,000 homes and businesses following Storm Frank.

The majority of these are in Cork with 1,300 people are in the dark in Macroom and 600 in Cobh.

Over 1,200 people are without power in Athlone, with 800 in Tramore in Co Waterford.

Further outages have also been reported in Kildare - in Kilcullen and Naas - along with Wicklow and Blessington.

Communications Spokesperson with the ESB, Bernadine Maloney has said power will be restored later.

“It’s just basically high winds have been the main damage,” said Maloney.

“Our crews have been out since first light this morning and we do expect to have everybody back with power this evening.”
