Electricians vote overwhelmingly for strike action

Electricians across the country are to strike later this month over a pay claim.

Up to 94% of the members of the Technical, Engineering and Electrical Union have voted in favour of a nationwide strike from Monday, February 24.

They say they are owed a 4.9% pay rise recommended by the Labour Court in 2009.

The strike is set to hit all sectors including energy suppliers, multi-nationals and construction.
