An elderly woman has been killed in a crash in County Donegal.

An elderly woman has been killed in a crash in County Donegal.

She was the driver of a car which hit a ditch at Cloghore in Ballyshannon at 10.20pm last night.

The woman, in her early 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene and her body has been removed to Sligo General Hospital. No-one else was injured.

The road has been closed to allow for a forensic examination, and diversions are in place.

Any witnesses are being asked to contact Gardaí at Ballyshannon.
