The Chairman designate of Eirgrid said today that he may reconsider taking the post.

John O'Connor's come under fire from TDs across the political divide at an Oireachtas Committee today.

Earlier Mr O'Connor said he would not live beside an electricity pylon, asking "Who would?"

Fianna Fáil said that they will not support his nomination, while Fine Gael TD Paudie Coffey says he questions his judgement in the past and now.

Mr O'Connor says he will discuss his acceptance of the chairmanship with the Energy Minister Pat Rabbitte.

"You ask me will I reconsider my acceptance of the offer to take the position," he said.

"I will discuss it with the Minister and I will come to a conclusion after that."
