Eircom reports bumper festive period
More than eight million text messages and 5.5million phone calls were made by one network provider alone over Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
That translates into 172,000 hours, or almost 20 years of talking, over the two-day period.
Eircom customers with smartphones also had more than eight million separate data sessions - either surfing the web or using apps during the festive season.
