It is claimed the 31-year-old lives nearby after serving 12 years of a 17-year sentence.

Statistics from the most recent report on recidivism from the Irish Prison Service show sex offenders have a reconviction rate of 31%.

Independent TD Denis Naughten wants the law changed so that residents are allowed to know if a dangerous criminal poses a threat.
