Dublin is one of the best cities in the world for buskers, according to a new report.
The 'Beat of the Street Report', thought to be the first piece of research of its kind into the health of busking across the globe, saw Dublin share third place with Prague and Milan.
Written by The Busking Project and commissioned by Tullamore D.E.W. Irish Whiskey, the study also revealed that busking is viewed as a positive expression of culture in Dublin's public space and buskers are generally celebrated for the contribution they make to the city.
The report evaluated the different busking approaches and policies of 35 cities across the world and ranked them in order of how encouraging they are for buskers to ply their trade.
Dublin was awarded its high ranking due to its relaxed managerial approach to busking, its involvement of buskers in policy-making and its active promotion of busking as an attribute to the creative and cultural identity of the city.
Mexico City was ranked as the least encouraging city in the report, where busking is illegal and may lead to imprisonment.
