The Lord Mayor of Dublin has said there needs to be serious, high-level political input to address the homeless problem in the city.
His comments came after the remains of a homeless man went undiscovered for a week at a closed site at the Mater Hospital in April.
Lord Mayor Christy Burke said he had seen first hand the increase in numbers of people sleeping rough.
"I'm a member of (an) inner city help the homeless charity. Last Wednesday night and the Wednesday before we fed 108 men and women on the streets of Dublin from 10pm until 2am in the morning, and that is increasing by the week," he said.
