Gardaí investigating an alleged sexual assault in Dublin are making an appeal for information.

A 20-year-old woman was walking to work in Dublin City Centre when she was attacked on Sunday night in Phibsboro.

The assault happened opposite St Peter's Church at Cabra Park in Phibsboro between 7.15pm and 8.45pm last Sunday night.

Gardaí say three men were involved and have released descriptions of the suspects.

Gardaí say the main culprit is 5’9” tall, of slim build, with shaved blonde hair and light facial stubble. He is also described as having facial scarring.

He was wearing grey cotton trousers with a white stripe down the side, a grey jumper with a hood and black runners.

The second man is 6 foot tall with a thin face and dark eyes. He was wearing a dark grey sweatshirt with a hood and has a distinctive scar on his left hand.

No description is available for the third man.

Investigating officers would also like to speak to a man who may have met the suspects in the laneway following the alleged incident.

They are also appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have information to contact them at Mountjoy garda station, the Garda confidential line, or any garda station.
