Dublin gardaí announce €1.5m cannabis seizure

Cannabis herb worth an estimated €1.5m has been seized in Dublin today.

It followed an intelligence led operation targeting the activities of a Tallaght-based organised crime gang.

Early this morning, gardaí stopped two vehicles at the Northwest Business Park near Blanchardstown.

They seized the drugs and arrested two men, aged in their 30s and 40s respectively.

They are being held at Finglas and Clondalkin Garda Stations under the provisions of the Drug Trafficking Act.

"These operations use advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks," said a Garda statement.

"Drug seizures play a critical role in targeting the livelihood of criminals and reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities.

"Drug seizures also help protect communities from the devastating impact of drugs and the associated criminality."
