Gardaí have seized drugs worth €292,000 following the search of a house in Dublin last night.

The Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau carried out a search of a residence in the Ballyfermot area as part of an operation targeting organised criminality.

Gardaí seized heroin to the value of €280,000 and cocaine to the value of €12,000 (pending analysis).

A 48-year-old man was arrested at the scene and is currently detained pursuant to Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at Ballyfermot Garda Station.

"An Garda Síochána is committed to disrupting the activities of organised criminals supplying drugs to our communities," said Assistant Commissioner John O’Driscoll of Special Crime Operations.

"This seizure of a substantial quantity of heroin and cocaine is significant in disrupting this supply."
