Gardaí have today seized cannabis worth almost half a million euro in Co Meath.

Drugs officers from the Garda National Drug Unit and Revenue officers seized the drug with an estimated street value of up to €480,000 in a premises at Larrix Street, Duleek, Co. Meath.

A 24-year-male was arrested at the scene and detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Drogheda Garda Station.

He is due to appear before Dundalk District Court this morning at 10.30am charged in connection with the haul.

The seizure came as part of a joint intelligence-led operation with officers from Revenue's Customs Service.

"These operations use advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks," said a Garda statement.
