Drug addict has final five years of jail sentence suspended

A drug addict who received a 10 year jail term five years ago after being caught with €135,380 of cocaine has had the last five years of his sentence suspended.

Judge Martin Nolan told Ciaran Fulton that if he committed a crime in the next five years he faced being sent back to jail to serve the remaining portion of his sentence.

The 37-year-old of Park Avenue, Castleknock, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court in 2007 to possession of drugs for sale or supply at Phibsboro Road on January 10, 2006.

In 2008 Judge Katherine Delahunt imposed a 10 year jail term but allowed for that sentence to be reviewed after five years.

His sentencing hearing heard that he became a drug addict as a result of being sexually abused.
