A 35-year-old man has been taken to hospital following a shooting incident in Drogheda this evening.

A 35-year-old man has been taken to hospital following a shooting incident in Drogheda this evening.

It is understood the man received gun shot wounds to his leg in the Moneymore estate sometime after 6pm this evening.

He was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital for treatment for his injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening.

The scene has been preserved and a garda investigation is underway.

Gardaí have asked anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them.
