Drivers warned of strong winds and flooding

Motorists are being warned to take particular care this evening as Met Éireann is warning of strong winds and coastal flooding in the West of the country.

On Atlantic coasts, winds are forecast to reach speeds of up to 75 kilometres an hour, with gusts of up to 120 kilometres.

The Road Safety Authority says a combination of high tides, storm surge and winds may result in a risk of localised flooding.

Drivers are reminded to look out for fallen debris and flooding, while pedestrians and cyclists are reminded to wear high visibility clothing.
